The Science of Sleep

Reflection starts...

I believe that everyone sleeps. Unless you are some superhuman that works 24 hours a day. Sleeping helps a person to forget almost every unpleasant things that happened in the day for that particular person. However, i believe that a person would not be able to sleep well when he/she does something which makes themselves feel guilty. In the article, it states a few points whereby i feel that its vital for everyone to know. The importance of sleep does not end when a baby grows and its vital for school-aged children. It also states that a good night's sleep sets a child for the day and i feel that its true. A good sleep also enables a child to deal with the social stresses and pressures of a busy school environment and also promotes learning and most importantly, sleep is essential for the growing of brains.

I feel that many children are against set bedtimes. This is most likely due to the fact that the technology is always improving and the children are attracted to electronic devices such as the TV or even the computer which allows them to play games 0r surf the internet. All this time being taken up by electronic devices definitely compete for their bedtime attention. Many chidren this days are also struggling to fall asleep and their sleep is often unrefreshing even if they are able to get into slumber. Nightmares are one of the common problems.

I believe that each and everyone of us differ in the amount of sleep they require and sufficient sleep is to ensure that they will be more active for the next day. Insufficient sleep would hence result in a bad temper, inattentiveness at school and a inconsistent performance and a poor memory. Therefore, establishing good sleeping habits is important so that a child can be active for the day.
